Full textual analysis of bands similar to mine

Image
The Beatles and AC/DC websites The Beatles band website Is not what I expected it to be, it is more modern yet "quiet" in terms of colour scheme as oppose to the AC/DC website which maintains its bold black and gold colour scheme throughout the whole website. This is a format I would like to copy for my website, with the colour scheme to remain bright throughout the whole website, to create synergy with my band logo. In addition, another difference between the two websites is the photos that are chosen to illustrate and convey the two bands to the fans. For The Beatles website the photos used seem more "tame" and calm to convey the beetles and their personalities, Whereas, on the AC/DC website, it’s more “lively” and “wild”. However, this is just a technique used to attract the fan base, this is because fans would be seen to somehow adopt a certain lifestyle depending on some of the music they listen to. Therefore, the AC/DC website tries to create ...

Annotation analysis: planning for textual analysis of similar bands

Full textual analysis of bands similar to mine The   Beatles AC/DC Although Pink Floyd, AC/DC  and The Beatles aren't all quite the same genre, they do have similarities, one being that they were both experimental for their time. I also like features of the website such as the colour scheme and the mix of coloured and black and white pictures of concerts which would be cool to recreate for my website with pictures of the actors that I take during filming.

Planning all my props and costumes

Firstly, I have some old uniform from school, which consists of School skirts and a jumper. I will get as many of my actors as possible to wear their own uniform, but to start I have 4 skirts and one jumper. I will also be using custom badges that I have had ordered with my logo design printed on them. There will be ten badges in total, so I will be able to have multiple actors wearing them in the same shots. The badge could also act as the logo at the start of the music video, if I focus on the badge, then zoom out to a bigger frame, or into the initial pan in the first shot of the video. I will also be using school stationery such as pens and equipment for pencil cases to create an intertextual reference to the top shot of money falling in a pile from ABBA’s Money, money, money music video. Hopefully I will be able to create this same shot with exercise books and textbooks that I have a lot of at home.

My final statement of intent

I have chosen to use ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ by Pink Floyd as I have seen ‘The Wall’, the film that accompanies it. ‘The Wall’ provides a narrative to the fictional character ‘Pink’ and his life, fabricated by Barrett and Water, two band members.    Some of Barrett’s tough life experiences have been portrayed in the film, including his mental breakdown, due to psychedelic drugs and substance abuse leading him to leave the band. This caused him to become erratic and develop schizophrenia and contributed to pancreatic cancer and other events. These events make up the metaphorical “bricks” (events in life that shape our future) in “the wall”.   The first “brick” refers to Pink’s father leaving the family for war, and the second, marks his school experiences, of being mocked and ridiculed by his teacher.   Having heard the full album, I have chosen to focus on “Another Brick in The Wall – Pt 2”, as it seems most relevant to the 16-25 target audience as the original m...

Planning where to put the artist’s logo

Planning where to put the artist’s logo I am in the process of getting custom badges with my original design for the band’s logo.  These can be worn by the actors and seen throughout the video.  I could also include a banner or some sort of poster that has designs inspired by the band’s logo, but with a different design or colour scheme, to allow some variation.  Because of the atmosphere of the music and also the punchy beat, I think I’ll add the title at the beginning, without a fade. I hope to edit it to appear on the beat of the music, in front/ on top of the video if possible, as I feel that it would reflect the genre better than starting with a black screen or with a fade in. I think it would also seem more natural too. I think that if I start with a fade in or a black screen for too long, it will waste some video time too. I want the logo to come before the title too, with the background removed if possible, if I can’t then I’d have to remove just t...
