Why I have chosen Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall

Why I have chosen Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall I have chosen Another Brick in the wall, because I know the song very well. This means that I have had time to understand the lyrics and interpret them to my own understanding. I already have a few ideas of possible shots for the music video. Also, the song has a strong beat which if used well can look really professional when edited exactly to the beat/ transitioned to the music.

Image
Childish Gambino - This is America Shot duration: 1min39 secs, extremely long  Cinematography: slow zoom in to chair centre frame  Transition: black to first shot M-E-S: warehouse with chair and guitar in the middle before man sits down to play it. White glow of building juxtaposes the impurity of the killing and violence Shot duration: technically still the first shot Cinematography: big pan. Keeps Gambino centre frame mostly, both to bring to attention the lyrics and also to distract us from the background M-E-S: old confederate army trousers and yellow shoes Shot duration: still first shot Cinematography: big pan/crosses 180 o  rule to show artist’s face  M-E-S: same mis-en-scene, to carry on. Image
First ten frames analysis of Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd Long duration shot, to establish narrative as the music video comes from a series of music videos that make up a movie about Pink Floyd’s childhood/life. Brick in the wall refers to the numerous events that happened in his life to make him into the man he is today. Flash back to teacher telling him off and making fun of him as a child All shots of the teacher are taken as low angle shots – inferior/child’s view  M-E-S: in an old classroom with teacher surrounded by children. Don’t follow 180 o  rule deliberately to separate the child from the teacher  Child upset and targeted by the teacher Slightly low angle to show that the child isn’t inferior/ the teacher is treating him badly. M-E-S: smart child, young-looking to look vulnerable. The teacher then hits him and you sympathise because you can see the shock on his face due to the use of a close-up ...
