My new logo for my band - Psychedelic Shock

My new logo for Psychedelic Shock

This is the logo I have made to serve as the new logo of Psychedelic Shock, for my coursework. It is made up of three important and thoroughly considered elements. They consist of the Psychedelic Shock band name, the illustration of a monster-teacher inside the ring and the ring itself.

The thought behind the monster-teacher illustration used, was that it is actually an original illustration for the Pink Floyd 'The Wall' album, and it illustrates my song choice very well. It is by Gerald Scarfe who is an English cartoonist and illustrator. the style of the illustration is very typical of Scarfe's style. I also thought it was important to include this because Scarfe did a lot of illustrations for Pink Floyd posters and albums.

The second important element is the Psychedelic Shock band name, which allows for easy recognition. It is also in a circle, as it allows badges and iron on patches to be made for fans as merchandise.

The third element is the ring outside the illustration. It is very effective at adding colour to the logo. I also wanted to include it so that it would have a 60s/70s feel, as that's when the album was released. but I wanted to also include it as another intertextual reference to an earlier album from Pink Floyd called 'The dark Side of the Moon' which has a prism splitting a high ray into a spectrum of colour from a white light ray.

  1. It is BEAUTIFUL. Just remember, you need to give the band a new name and identity... Hope that isn't too tricky? Ms Cope
