• Warner Bros. didn’t used to have a record label but after one of their contracted actors recorded a song with Dot Records (Paramount Pictures branch) they decided to create a record label in the 50s to capitalize and earn the profits made from music too. 
• Warner music group is a record label and now a conglomerate headquartered in LA. It has a branch of music publishing too, called Warner Chappell Music. 
• It has its own branches of record labels for different genres of music, the best known being Elektra Records, Warner Records and  Atlantic Records
• Its current CEO is Stephen Cooper
• Famous artists who have recorded with them consist of Dua Lipa, Madonna, David Bowie and Ed Sheeran.
• 1967 – Warner Bros. sold to seven Arts Productions, then in went on to buy Atlantic Records. 
• Late 60s and 70s – moved into rock and pop signing major British and American acts including Led Zeppelin and Bette Midler.
• 1969 – Warner Bros.-Seven Arts Company was sold to Kinney National Company
• Mid-1972 - Kinney Music Of Canada, Ltd. was renamed as WEA Music of Canada, Ltd. a.k.a. WEA (Warner, Elektra, Atlantic) company - a division of Warner Communications Inc. 
• 1990 - it became Warner Music Canada Ltd - a subsidiary of the US-based Warner Music International. 
• 1970s - the Kinney group built up a commanding position in the music industry. In 1970, Kinney bought Elektra Records and its sister label Nonesuch Records for $10 million


• Warner Bros. also founded theCasablanca Records subsidiary, but several years later Casablanca became independent of Warner Bros.
